Tourist Visa – Spain

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

Overview

Spain Tourist Visa allows you to visit Spain for tourism, family visits, leisure activities, or sightseeing for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. All applicants must carefully follow the requirements and provide complete documentation to ensure a smooth application process.

Processing Time

  • The standard processing time for visa applications is 15 calendar days, counted from the day after submission. In exceptional cases, if additional documents or an interview is required, processing may extend up to 45 calendar days.
  • Certain nationalities may require additional consultations with Spanish central authorities, which may lengthen processing times.
  • Please note that the Consulate does not provide updates regarding the application status or the reasons for visa refusal.

Documents Required

All documents listed below are mandatory. Each applicant must submit their own set of documents.
Important: Most documents required for your visa application must be recent and dated within the last 30 days at the time of submission. Ensure all paperwork meets this requirement to avoid delays or rejection.

General Requirements

Visa Application Form

  • Fully completed, dated, and signed.

Photograph

  • One recent colour passport-sized photograph on a white background.

Passport

  • Original passport.
  • Valid for at least 3 months after your intended departure from Spain.
  • At least two blank pages.
  • Photocopy of passport’s bio-data page.

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Employment or Student Status

(Documents must be recent and dated within the last 30 days at the time of submission.)

  • For employed applicants: Recent letter from employer confirming your position, salary, start date, and approval of leave.

  • For students: Recent letter from your UK educational institution confirming your enrolment and attendance.

  • For self-employed individuals: Recent letter from an accountant, business registration certificate, or recent tax returns.

  • For unemployed applicants: Include a cover letter explaining your current situation and how the trip is being funded.

  • For retired applicants: Submit proof of pension or other regular income.

  • If sponsored: Provide a sponsorship letter with proof of relationship and the sponsor’s financial documents.

    Proof of Finance

    • Evidence showing financial capability to cover expenses of at least £100 per day per person, with a minimum of £905 per person for the entire duration of stay.
    • Provide recent bank statements for the past 3 months, or a notarised sponsorship letter (if sponsored).

    Proof of Travel

    • Round-trip ticket reservations on the applicant’s name (air, train, bus, or cruise tickets).

    Accommodation Confirmation
    (on the applicant’s name)

    • Confirmed hotel reservations, or
    • Rental agreement, or
    • Invitation letter (Carta de invitación) issued by Spanish Police or notarised invitation form certified by the Spanish Consulate.

    Travel Health Insurance

    • Valid insurance policy covering the whole trip  for the Schengen area, minimum coverage of €30,000 covering medical emergencies and repatriation.

    Additional Documents for Minors

    Travelling with Both Parents

    • Copy of birth certificate or adoption certificate.
    • Copy of parents’ passports and visas, if applicable.

    Travelling with One Parent or Guardian / Without Parents

    • Copy of birth certificate or adoption certificate.
    • Copy of passport and visa of the accompanying parent.
    • Notarised authorisation from the non-travelling parent(s).
    • Court document if custody is held by one parent or guardian only.

    Note: Documents must be officially translated into Spanish if specifically requested by the Consulate.

    Important Information

    • Stapling documents is not permitted.
    • Documents must be provided in English or Spanish. Translations into Spanish are required only when specifically requested.
    • An appointment and submission of documents do not guarantee a visa issuance. The Spanish Consulate General in London reserves the right to request further documentation or interviews.
    • All visa decisions, including duration and number of entries, rest exclusively with the Spanish Consulate.

    Photo Specifications

    Provide one recent colour photograph of yourself, dated within 30 days and not previously used in your passport.

    Your photograph must meet the following specifications:

    • Size: Minimum 26 mm wide × 32 mm high, Maximum 35 mm wide × 45 mm high.
    • Quality: Clear, sharp, and in full colour.
    • Background: Plain white, ensuring clear contrast and visibility of facial features.
    • Appearance: Your face must be centred, clearly focused, and distinguishable against the background.
    • Material: Printed on standard photographic paper (no digital or home-printed photos).

    Additional Guidelines

    • Maintain a neutral expression; keep your face fully visible and unobstructed.
    • Prescription glasses are allowed if worn daily. Non-prescription eyewear is not permitted without a medical certificate.
    • Head coverings are permitted for religious or medical reasons only, and supporting documentation may be required.
    • Uniforms or service attire should not be worn.

    Important

    • Affix the photo securely but do not staple it to your application form.
    • Ensure your photo strictly complies with these criteria; otherwise, your application may be deemed incomplete.
